Madhu is a forever-student with learning being part of his lifestyle and enjoys interacting with students. He is a passionate cricketer and an avid traveller. With an interdisciplinary education and research experiences in both academia and industry, Madhu brings a broad perspective for students at IIT GN.

Madhu received his B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad and, M.S. and Ph.D both in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Wisconsin Madison. He was a Principal R&D Engineering at Halliburton Global Research before joining the IIT Gandhinagar as a faculty. His research interests include Smart Manufacturing, Control Systems, Robotics and Mechatronics.

As an experimentalist Abhay has learned a great deal about the virtues of failure and encourages students to celebrate success but also cherish and learn from their failures. Currently, as part of the CDS team, he enjoys working with students and hopes to make a positive difference in their lives. In his spare time, he likes to travel, hike and every now and then pick a new hobby and learn new skill set.

Abhay received his B.E. from the University of Roorkee, M.S. from The University of Alabama at Birmingham and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory before joining the IIT Gandhinagar as a faculty. His research interests include understanding the atomic scale structure and phenomena that dictate the behavior of a material.

Shanmuganathan enjoys classroom teaching and is an avid reader. He is especially fond of popular science genre and in particular, works related to personality development and scientific understanding of human brain and evolution.

Shanmuga is an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar. He has obtained his MTech and PhD degrees from IIT Bombay. His research interests are in the areas of Computer Vision, Computational Photography, Computer Graphics, and Machine Learning

Bhaskar is a listener. He connects with students irrespective of their achievements or failures. He firmly believes in enabling self-reliance.

He holds a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon, M.Sc. from IIT Kanpur and B.Sc. from St. Stephen’s College, Univ. of Delhi. His research and teaching interests span several areas of chemical and biological sciences. He loves to cook, travel, read, quiz and write. Some day he would like to revive his interests in street theatre and drama.

Dr. Joycee Mekie is a faculty in Electrical Engineering. She joining IIT Gandhinagar after completing her PhD from IIT Bombay. She has obtained her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the M. S. University of Baroda. Her research interests are in VLSI architectures and design, Memories, Circuits and memory for Space applications, etc.

I enjoy teaching and interacting with students, and believe that students shape an institute as much as it shapes them. I completed my PhD in Mathematics at Queen's University, Kingston and was a postdoctoral fellow at University of Waterloo for two years after that. My research interests lie in Number theory, broadly speaking I am interested in fundamental questions about the prime numbers. Apart from Mathematics, I enjoy reading novels, writing and sketching.

Arnab believes that the student life should not revolve only around academics. A student life is incomplete unless there are chapters of cultural, social, and sports activities. With this goal in mind, Arnab interacts with the students to provide them a holistic campus experience, as only a spirited and enthusiastic student body epitomizes a healthy educational institute.

Arnab has completed his PhD in Arizona State University (2012) and a stint of post-doctoral studies at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory before joining IIT GN in 2015. He is currently working on the development of Bio-inspired catalysts for renewable energy utilization. Arnab likes to read novels and watch football/cricket games in his leisure.

Still a student at heart, Sivapriya is glad to be part of the vibrant student affairs team. She believes strongly that the healthy relation between the students and faculty would make IITGN foundation very strong.

She is a chemical biologist and has done her PhD (Organic Chemistry) from IISc, Bangalore and post-doctoral research (Cancer Biology) from Harvard and MIT. She is keen in exploring different cellular pathways using small molecules in search of low-cost therapeutics for cancer and infectious diseases. Apart from science she loves travelling and cooking.

Gopinadhan is a strong supporter of sports and believes that sports culture will provide several life skills such as strong character, leadership qualities, personality development, and the ability to work as a team and most importantly, it will provide a healthy body. As a badminton player, his aim is to motivate the students to be part of at least one sport and be an asset to a nation thriving for sports excellence. His vision is to create an atmosphere where everyone enjoys going out and playing his or her favorite game. In free time, he also enjoys his other two favorites singing, and travel.

He holds a Ph.D. from IIT Delhi and M. Tech from IIT Kanpur. Before joining IIT Gandhinagar, he worked as a research scientist at National University of Singapore and as a Marie Curie fellow at University of Manchester, UK. His research interests include nanofluidics, two-dimensional heterostructures, magnetic sensors and physics of surfaces and interfaces.

Barath is a physicist working on issues surrounding the Standard model of particle physics, and in particular, the Higgs boson. He has an M.Sc from IIT-Madras, and a Ph.D from Michigan State University. He strongly encourages students to pay attention to their health in addition to pursuing academics vigorously in keeping with the phrase Mens sana in corpore sano. An emphasis on strength training would go a long way in promoting overall health and longevity. With this aim, he looks forward to promoting the IITGN gymnasium to all members of the IITGN community, and in the near future assembling a world class gym facility in the new arena with the cooperation of the students.

Being a singer and a tabla player himself, Atul has always been keenly interested in cultural activities. Back in his PhD days, he was a part of the musical band 'Anubhooti'. He has performed on television as well as given several musical concerts. He has performed with musicians like Shridhar Phadke, Kenwood Dennard, Aditya Kalyanpur and Mahesh Kale. He strongly encourages students to participate in cultural activities and believes that it leads to an all-round development of an individual.

Atul has done Masters in Mathematics from Texas Tech University and a PhD in Mathematics from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was a cultural coordinator at the Indian Students Associations at both these universities. His research interests are Analytic Number Theory and Special Functions.

S. Rajendran is an Associate Teaching Professor in the discipline of Electrical Engineering with a strong industry back ground. After having gained valuable work experience in design, manufacturing and product development from public sector and multinational companies, he has joined IITGN in the year 2011 to pursue his teaching interests. His research interests are, control of flexible structures and power electronic converters.

With the company of young bright minds from the student teams, Prof. Rajendran is keen to coordinate the technical activities and bring out the best from the student community to win awards and realise IITGN is a place to work, enjoy and learn.

Manish likes to interact with students inside and outside of class. He is trying to get more students earn the awards offered by different agencies.

He completed his undergraduate studies at IIT Kanpur in 2008, and joined the same institute again for the Masters' studies. He went to the SUNY Buffalo to pursue doctoral studies in the field of Structural and Earthquake Engineering. He is interested in masonry and concrete buildings, seismic hazard and risk assessment, and controlling the response of structures during earthquakes.

Prof Mithun Radhakrishna is an ardent believer in the philosophy of learning that takes into account a practical hands-on methodology. He believes this is an important driver for the overall development of a student. Thus, as part of CDS, he hopes to enrich the knowledge of students by facilitating industry visits to bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and practical applications.

His doctorate program in Columbia University USA, in the field of Chemical Engineering has helped him realize the imperative role that higher education plays in advancing the scientific temperament of students. As a part of CDS, Mithun hopes to work with students to aid them in realizing their ambitions in terms of advanced education.

Chetan is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics with research interests in Probability Theory; he is especially interested in problems related to the effect of random noise on dynamical systems with switching. He received his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

As part of the Student Affairs team, Chetan's responsibilities include management of the Explorer Fellowship and the Gram Fellowship: two unique IITGN programs which, in their distinct ways, afford students the opportunity to experience the varied facets and staggering diversity of life across India. In his free time, Chetan enjoys reading mysteries/thrillers, watching movies and taking long walks. He also enjoys sports and would very much like to return to playing tennis after a rather long hiatus.

Umashankar Singh is an Assistant Professor in the discipline of Biological Sciences and Engineering with research interests in the field of cellular homeostasis and non-oncogene addiction. He loves teaching cell and molecular biology and fancies the art of scientific pursuit. He follows the "good servant and bad master" paradigm in his interactions with the students for their all round development.

In the vibrant team of student affairs, Umashankar is innovatively coordinating with his colleagues the efforts to achieve students integration vis-a-vis both, the student community itself as well as the institute at large.

Jaichander is an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering discipline. His research is the area of thermal sciences with a particular focus on energy efficiency.

As the IMS liason in the Student Affairs team, Jaichander hopes to interface with students and help improve their user experience when they interact with the institute services.
